Dane, Kerilyn & Kalei
March 2nd 2005 - Kerilyn is Noni's cousin. This cute
little family lives and works on Oahu on the North Shore area. We
visited them for dinner. Before dinner Dane took me to boogie-board on
Waimea Bay. Very cool. They have such a nice apartment above a huge
garage on their family property. An interesting note is that the land
they live on originally supplied the sand for Waikiki beach years ago.
Dane works with his dad in the family Electrical contracting business.
They service all the Harley Davidson shops in the Islands among other
clients. They say it is hard to find good help.

Noni - Waimea Bay
March 2nd 2005 - Had to throw in this beautiful shot
overlooking Waimea Bay. (The scenery is nice too!). The middle picture
is of Noni at the famous Matsa Muira Shave Ice stand in Haleawa. (Had to
have the Azuki bean with cream shave ice!) Sadly Noni had to go home to
Utah to be with the boys. The plan is now for me to take my Mom and
Louise to Maui to show them around. I will miss her! Some nice parting
pictures.

Chad
March 2nd 2005 - Chad was on the same fishing spot as
Randy and Kenan. He had just got there as we were leaving Randy's spot
(See Randy Below). Chad is a Highway construction worker doing road
repair for a private company. He is married and has 3 kids. He is 30
years old and has never left the Islands. Strangely enough he is
scheduled to go to Las Vegas next week! He loves to fish and was very
friendly.

Ericka, Betty, Carol, Joe & Roger (Noni)
March 2nd 2005 - Some incredibly friendly people we met
on Sunset Beach on the North Shore. Ericka is going to college in
Detroit, but is skipping class and the snow for Hawaii. Go figure. They
are all from Massachusetts. Joe & Betty live on Oahu 6 months each year.
Take a wild guess which 6 month. Ericka (grand daughter) said Detroit
got 9" snow that day. I can't believe she would use such a foul 4 letter
word! They told us about the Heiau (sp?) that we took the great pictures
of Waimea Bay.

Giovanni's White Truck Shrimp
March 2nd 2005 - Famous White Truck Shrimp. Just had to
do it. All the tourist's ( and locals) do. This is located in Kahuku,
home of the Red Raiders. This high school somehow pumps out incredible
football players that end up all over the NCAA. There have been many
players go to BYU. I had to mention that since I am a BYU nut. The
shrimp was very good. |

Laie Temple
March 2nd 2005 - My mom. I like this picture I took of
her in front of the crashing waves. She is a wonderful lady and has gone
through a lot in her life. My dad was killed by a drunk driver when I
was 4 years old. She was 36. So was he. She raised all five of us by
herself and didn't re-marry until we were all married 18 years later.
Her second husband died of cancer. She is on her first trip to Hawaii.
That is why I volunteered to take them to Maui. Least I could do. Tough
Job. Someone's gotta do it (hee hee) |

Laie Temple
March 1st 2005 - We spent the morning inside the Laie
Temple. It was wonderful. Their visitor's center has been newly
renovated. I highly recommend it. This was one of the first few LDS
Temples completed.

David
March 1st 2005 - A very special meeting. David was one of
Noni's parents favorite English students in Cambodia. He is Vietnamese.
His story brought tears to our eyes as he told of his progression from
sneaking across the Cambodian border in 2000 to meeting Noni's parents,
learning English, Joining and then serving a mission for the LDS church.
Passing the English test and how his life has changed and his future is
bright. I love stories like that. We met up with him again by chance in
the BYU-H cafeteria. It was hard to say goodbye. Felt like an old
friend.

Jose
March 1st 2005 - We met Jose watching the Canoe
Parade at the PCC in Laie. He is an Accountant from Australia. He was so
fun to talk to. He is originally from the Philippines. He and his wife
have 3 children. Again, he was the type of person I would love to get to
know just from our chance encounter. He took my picture and said he
would go to the website and email it to me when he got back home.

Feb 28th 2005 - Look at that hair! No, not me HERS! We
had to stop and get a picture of this hair. I haven't seen that much
hair all in one place before! These girls were so nice to take our
pictures and said they would go to the site to get the picture.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Kenan
Feb 28th 2005 - This boy was fishing on rocks. He had a
system as he had his shade all set. Very nice guy. His dad was trying to
get his attention as it was time to go. He had caught a nice 12 inch
fish that he said was good for eating.

UPDATE:
Mar 19th 2005 -Dear Greg and Noni, Thanks so
much for remembering me in your website and all the nice things you said
about me. It was nice meeting you and your family and hope you can come
back to the islands soon. My wife got a real kick out of the pictures
and website. Hope your trip was wonderful. Say hi to Noni and the kids
for me! Next time, bring your fishing gear! Aloha and Mahalo Randy and
Sheree

Feb 28th 2005 - We found Randy fishing in Laie. He was so
nice and explained all the fishing details we asked him. He also had a
nice shade rigged up. He had bells on his poles and planned to spend the
night tending the lines. He is from Honolulu but came up here an hour
and a half for the fishing spot. His parents met in Hana. He told about
how his dad would ride his bike to Hana (no small feat for those that
have driven it!) and would then have to spend the night camping in the
front yard. Very nice guy. The Picture on the right is the next morning.
We went to check up on him. This rainbow fish was what he got.

Cathy & Mardelle
Feb 28th 2005 -
met these two Epidemiologists in the Laie McDonalds. They work for the
Department of Health. They were from the Mainland here on work.
They were so nice as to take our pictures of the waterfall. Yes, I said
waterfall in McDonalds. No, I haven't seen a McD's that had one either.
It was also the slowest McD's I had ever been to. The waterfall made up
for it.

Cambodian Friends
Feb 28th 2005 - These BYU Hawaii Students all work in the
food services of the PCC (Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie). The
picture is extra special because each was a student of Noni's parents
who served as service mission to Cambodia in 2000-2001. Some of them
spoke no English at all as little as 4 years ago. They are now attending
College. Wow. This one is a tribute to Lowry & Maylene's and other's
efforts.

Nathan
Feb 28th 2005 - Nathan was working at a Macadamia
outlet store on the way to Laie. That's better than saying he worked at
a Nut Farm I guess. He is from a very long Hawaiian Genealogy. His real
name is Nakana Kahananui Kelekolio. That's why he is called Nathan.
Actually Nakana is Hawaiian for Nathan. He is 36 and has never left the
island. Very nice guy.

Feb 28th 2005 - We met up with my Mom & her friend Louise
in Honolulu. They are both from Canada. I will be traveling with Louise
and my Mom, Elizabeth, to Maui. Noni will be going back home to Utah to
the boys. This is a picture from Diamond Head in Oahu.

Louise, Cav & Elizabeth
Feb 28th 2005 - Cav was the Samoan entertainer. He was
hilarious! We saw his show 3 times. If you go to the PCC, you have to
see his show. Sometimes it is done by other Samoan performers. All are
good. Cav is GREAT.
