C.J.
March 4th 2005 - C.J. was working at the Farmers Market. I asked her why the bananas were "honey" bananas. She giggled and said she wasn't sure. She only worked there because it was only 5 minutes from her house by bike. This is one of her 5 jobs. All outdoor such as art gallery, 2 food stands, hair braiding and luggage. Wow. Originally from Canada/England and came to Maui via California 14 years ago. She had a fun laugh and easy smile. She said she came to Maui in the "Human Potential" movement... sort of like the "hippie" type back then? She said she has learned a lot and loves it here in Maui. Very fun person to talk to!  Inside "Jaws" Jaws Fish Taco!
March 4th 2005 - An excellent Fish Taco from Jaws hit the spot on the way back from La Parousse Bay. These guys have been driving this truck to this location for 8 years. They were nice enough to let me into the "inner sanctum" inside of the Jaws truck!  The picture of the right is the vending window at the back of the truck with me and my mom posing. It was a great taco! Email Update

Tap Buggy Buggy Engine
March 4th 2005 - Tap was his name. He made this from a VW bug frame. He had it custom welded and was nice enough to let me sit in it to pose for a picture. He was working in Oahu and had just come back to Maui that night. We met him as we were eating in Kahalui at the food court in the mall. The L&L Hawaiian BBQ was to die for!  Email Update

Doug & Maria
March 3rd 2005 - Met Doug & Maria sitting next to me on the flight to Maui. I was behind my mom and Louise so I could have the window seat. Doug & Maria are from Florida. Doug is a Project Manager for a Software Company. Maria plans activities for a community program and is originally from South America (Venezuela?). They have been married 6 years. This is their first time to Maui.  They were headed to Hana right off the plane (smart people!) I had to give them all my tips for the trip. They were so friendly and I had to change places with them so they could see the approach from a window seat into Maui.  Email Update

Louise, Betty & Elizabeth
March 3rd 2005 - We met up with a friend of my mom's in the Queen Kaahumanu Mall in Kahalui. She was a missionary with them in the Genealogy/ Family History Center in Salt Lake City, Utah a in the past couple of years. She had since returned back to Maui and was so gracious to welcome us to Maui with fresh, beautiful Leis and Maui Cookies. What a sweetie! She was like a special Aunt I just met. She works with the aged in the community taking them to the mall and such. She was so friendly and we enjoyed the time we spent with her. As we were waiting in the mall I picked up a wireless hot spot to check my email and such. Amazingly it wasn't secure and I was able to surf and chat on msn, etc. I am amazed how many places had unsecured wireless internet. I'm not complaining! Email Update

Hana LDS Church
March 6th 2005 - We attended the LDS Hana Branch for Sunday Services. This little branch is close to my heart. I love the people and the spirit there. We loved to visit with the Henderson's and their family members. (Can't believe I don't have a picture of them!) The have

Mei Ling
March 6th 2005 - Mei Ling has taught the gospel doctrine class the last few times I have attended church. She is from Keanae, about 30 minutes back on the road to Hana. She was born and raised in the area and is a delight to visit with.

Hana Branch Oldest Members
March 6th 2005 - This cute couple has also been at church the last few times I have been there. He is known simply as "Uncle." He was born and raised in Hana and made the canes from wood from the area. They are very intricate. They were also a joy to be with.

  Josie & Jerome Diego
of Josie's Hana Hideaways in Hana were incredibly gracious hosts. They have 8 properties that they rent. 4 of them are vacation properties. The following pictures are from a property of theirs by the Airport. If you visit Hana you should really consider staying at one of their houses. They are very gracious and spent a couple of hours with us Sunday evening showing us around their property. Josie is from the Philippines. Jerome is half Pilipino and half Hawaiian. He works in Road Construction. She manages the properties. They are like that favorite aunt and uncle you always wanted.  Their properties can be viewed by
clicking here. All of the following pictures/videos in this section were taken on own of their vacation properties near the Hana airport.

The Road to Hana is my most favorite part of any trip to Hawaii. It is like a pilgrimage that I love to repeat. Even though it is my 5th trip to Hana, it is never enough. I was so glad to be able to show Hana to my mom and her friend Louise.  It was their first trip to Hana, and I wanted them to have a great time.
