Dallyn Bayles (Joseph Smith in the
Nauvoo Pageant) told us about the need for Extras in the Church
Movie "Joseph: Prophet of the Restoration" that will replace "The
Testaments" in December 2005. The film will play in the Huge screen
theater in the Joseph Smith Building on Temple Square. Interestingly
enough, Dallyn also played Hyrum Smith in the Movie before being
selected as Joseph in the Nauvoo Pageant. They have finished
filming, but are re-doing a few parts that they didn't like. They
liked my "ruffian" like beard I guess. We ended up being there about
5 hours the first day. They asked me and Ron Mitchell (from the
pageant) and others to come back Saturday at 6:30am to continue
filming. It turned into a pretty long day and we really earned our
money that day (even though we spent a lot of time in the Cast
lounge! It was neat to be involved even if I am a bad guy. Someone
needs to bring balance to the force! I found it really funny that
they wanted to see my temple recommend so I could be a mobber in the
movie. I told them that if they required a temple recommend for
mobbers in Joseph's time they might have avoided a few problems!

I felt funny changing into "mobber" clothes in front of the Brethren! I thought it strange that we had to show our Temple Recommend to be a mobber?

Adam (L) had blue eyes. He had a long pony-tail. He is in a stage production and works in tele-marketing.

Although a mobber, they used his hands as the Savior's hands in the movie.

They put this yellow "gunk" on our teeth to look like "mobber" type dental care. It was like having crayon on your teeth. Yuck!

Actually there was only a big blue screen instead of the jail.

While we waited I got to show off my meanest look with a cool rifle. I came out of a tent next to the jail.

This Section below is of the "Walla-Walla" Session.
A Walla-Walla session is where you have a group of
people gather around microphones and you record group sounds as you
watch the film on a big screen. You do the scenes over a few
times and try it differently each time... just like filming, but
with sound. We did all the "men" group scenes. Chances
are if you watch the movie, you will hear this group of men in the
group scenes. One scene in particular is in the Erie canal
scene. I got to say "Now back to work... I don't pay you for
standing around" in my best British accent. I don't know if
that scene where Hyrum breaks up a fight, and Joseph gets mocked by
the group made the final cut, but It was a lot of fun.
